The Painter’s Union Building

Entry doors for a historical commercial building

As a real estate firm redeveloped a historical building in Cleveland, Ohio, they turned to Rockwood to create an updated entrance that remained true to the original design.

The entrance would provide access to apartments that were added as part of the mixed-use development.

Featuring the rich, warm tones of Ribbon Sapele, an African hardwood, the new door and transom created by Rockwood dramatically improved the building’s curb appeal. In addition, we were asked to provide a wood overhang and corbels that complemented the building’s original stonework.

To provide security for residents, the door was designed to accommodate an access control system. Wooden backplates concealed electric wiring for the light fixtures, which reproduced the look of the original gas lights.

For high-end commercial door projects, we pay special attention to details such as grain and color uniformity, ease of installation and construction timelines. Learn more about our commercial wood doors.
